Hal Mar was founded by Harold and Margaret Coon in 1974. "Hal" and "Mar" never had any children of their own, just their business. Thus, it has been a "family business" from the beginning. In 1990, because of Harold's declining health, they sold the business to current owners Vic and Doreen Romack, both of whom worked for them. Vic started full time at Youngstown State University in 1991, as a pressman in the University's In-plant printing facility, while Doreen remained at Hal Mar and continues to run the family business. On any given day 3 or more family members can be found working at the shop. All toll, there's been more than 6 different family members in the past 17 years, including children, parents, neices and nephews.

      Our company specializes in commercial, offset printing of various materials including flyers and brochures; publications, price lists and directories; newsletters and business communications; and direct mail pieces and inserts.

      Hal Mar is located just north of the downtown Warren Courthouse Square in an area affectionately known as "the North End". Our 9,000 square foot building was built in 1914 originally to house the Halsey Taylor Drinking Fountain & Water Cooler Company. Many of the drinking fountains produced here are still in use around the country today. We have 2 originals in our building!

      Over the years the commercial printing industry has seen tremendous
changes and growth, especially in technology. One thing that has not changed at Hal Mar is our commitment to our customers. We continue to offer a quality product at a competitive price, on-time delivery and personal service. We value our past as we look ahead to our future. The need for Personal service never changes.
